Love is Not (Always) a Union

Is it evermore true,
as if relationship is destiny,
as if we should live in couples,
as if nothing's happier than a union,
as if our passion is everything,
as if love is about becoming one?

But you never know,
how deep the ocean of one's heart is,
how far a friend's hands can reach,
how close your cared ones can hug,
how high their prayers can climb,
how fast their pardon often is.

Since love is about being present,
within someone else's heart and soul.
Since love is about being a gift,
though never will be owned.
Since love is about being sacredly tied,
albeit each person's way of life.
Since love is about being reborn,
and laid down on someone else's palms.

And love is not always a union,
regardless how hard we push it,
despite our stubbornness to reach it,
notwithstanding the gloom and the grief.

Hence at the end of each day,
don't be sorry for feeling not loved,
also by those you do care about.
Since love is by far not a union,
if you mean by it a possession.
